The goal of the PR committee is to represent the foundation and to get more known by the students of Maastricht. During the year they organize a lot of divers activities, for example a pubquiz and a sports activity together with UM Sport during the well-known Africa week.
This committee is led by Véronique Hulsmans and exists of the following members:
Lizy van Eijk
Dear all, my name is Lizy van Eijck, I’m 19 years old, and I’m in my first year of Medicine. I was born in Brabant, so I’m always in for some fun! In my free time, I love to spend time with my family and friends, and you can find me on the field playing hockey or on stage in the theatre. This is my second year in the PR committee of MUSTANGH, so I’m really looking forward to seeing you all again at our activities!
Dear everyone, my name is Esmée Vaes, I am 20 years old and in my third year of Biomedical Sciences. In the summer of 2018 I was a volunteer in a hospital in the north of Ghana (unfortunately not the West Gonja Hospital). While I was preparing for my journey, I hear about MUSTANGH Foundation. Of course, I wanted to join this organisation immediately! As a member of the PR-committee I will help promote MUSTANGH this year and I will be present at all of the activities we will organise this year. Will I see you there?
Shlomo! My name is Rebecca, I’m 22 y/o and originally from the Middle East, grew up in a town in South Germany though. In the past 5 years, I absolved voluntary work and internships all over the world and decided to move to Maastricht in 2016, which seemed at that point the best chance for a ticket to Medicine. Currently I’m in my 3rd year of Biomedical Sciences and this year finally my life dream came true, so now I’m also a 1st year Medicine student. About me: The biggest freedom for me is to stand on top of a mountain watching the sea, in middle of a chaotic colourful city or lie on the clearest beach listening to the waves – traveling is my absolute passion, and combining it with volunteering is the cherry on top. Happily, it’s my second year as part of the PR team of MUSTANGH. I appreciate the most that everyone cares about the group feeling, we communicate everything and help each other out. Ideas and creativity are always welcome and our regular dinner meetings, where we organise our events together, let the everyday stress fade for a short bit. And aside, for me it’s a fun way to improve my Dutch skills. What to ask more for, than supporting such a thoughtful purpose, while enjoying time with the girls 😊
Hey! My name is Djura Knol, I’m 19 years old and I’m a first year ITM (International Track in Medicine) student. I grew up in IJsselstein, close to Utrecht. Next to my study I like to play hockey and have fun with my friends. I have always been interested in health care in countries less fortunate than ours. This is why I would really love to work in one of those countries later in life. Being able to help people, not only in the Netherlands, but all over the world, and make a difference there, seems amazing to me. MUSTANGH really intrigues me because it is a small organisation, but it makes a huge difference in Ghana. I am very curious for upcoming year and I am very much looking forward to it!
Hi! My name is Martha Spronk, I’m 20 years old and I’m in my third year of Medicine. I’m busy with sports, photography and I also love some good company! MUSTANGH is the perfect combination of my study and my personal interests, as I absolutely love travelling and want to know more about the medical world in other countries. I hope to see it with my own eyes some day. I can’t wait to be a part of the PR-committee of MUSTANGH for a second year!
