Acquisition committee

The acquisition committee is engaged in recruiting Friends of MUSTANGH and obtaining funding.

This year, Peggy Ummels will lead the committee and she will work together with:

Astrid Heymans
Hi everyone, my name is Astrid Heymans. I’m 19 years old, I’m from Leuven (Belgium) and I’m a second-year medical student in Maastricht. In my spare time, I love to hang out with friends or do sports (fitness and horseriding). I also work as a voluntary student-researcher in cardiology. In 2012 I traveled to South-India with my family, where I was confronted with poverty and inequality for the first time. Since then, I’m passionate about helping others who don’t get the same chances and care as we do. When I heard about MUSTANGH’s project, it thus really caught my attention. This year, I’ll be joining the acquisition committee so that we can keep improving the health care in West Gonja Hospital as a team. I’m looking forward to it!

Christian Collaert
Hi everyone, my name is Christian Collaert and I’m currently studying the B.sc European Public Health at Maastricht University. The coming year I will be taking part in the acquisition committee for the third year in a row, in order to collect the means and form the connections which are necessary for MUSTANGH to do her work. Apart from my study and work at MUSTAGH I also volunteer as a scout leader, and I work at UM Sports and as ERO at the UM, furthermore I’m also in a committee at the Maastricht climbing association Maassac. It’s very rewarding to me to help others, whether that’s direct or indirect like with my work at MUSTANGH. This, combined with the fact that MUSTANGH is simply made up of a group of super nice students, made my choice to participate for a third year an easy one. I’m really looking forward to once again book a great result with the committee!

Danaé Smeets
Hi everyone, my name is Danaé Smeets. I am 20 years old and I have just started my second year of Medicine in Maastricht. Apart from my study, I have a side job and I am very involved in volunteer work. In my spare time, I like to do some fitness or spinning, or I will do some fun activities with my family or friends. Starting this year, I can also participate in the acquisition committee of MUSTANGH. I am very excited about this! For two summer holidays, I went to do some volunteer work in Nepal myself. I would also like to do more of this type of volunteer work in the future. This is why MUSTANGH sounded very interesting to me. For me, it is nice to be able to help the project in Ghana based from here.

Lotte Vondenhoff
Hey everybody! My name is Lotte Vondenhoff and I am 21 years old. I was born in Voerendaal but am now living in Maastricht, I’ve always been a ‘village-kid’ so I can still be found in Voerendaal on a regular basis. I’m currently a second-year medical student and am also an active member of the Sports Committee of M.S.V. Pulse. I have been playing volleyball for the same club (VCV) since I was 8 and still do so 3 times a week. In addition to that, I think it’s very important to spend as much time with friends and family as possible. The interests of the MUSTANGH Foundation really appeal to me, so I look forward to being a member of the Acquisition Committee now!

Soe Welters
Hi, my name is Soe Welters. This is my second year in the acquisition committee of the MUSTANGH Foundation. After a year of studying Biomedical sciences I now study Medicine. Next to the MUSTANGH Foundation I also have some other hobbies like playing handball on a high level in Belgium.
