The acquisition committee is engaged in recruiting Friends of MUSTANGH and obtaining funding.
This year, Soe Welters will lead the committee and she will work together with:
Hi everyone, my name is Astrid Heymans. I’m 20 years old, I’m from Leuven (Belgium) and I’m in my third year of medicine school in Maastricht. This is my second year at MUSTANGH. In my free time, you can find me hanging out with friends or in the gym. I also work as a voluntary student-researcher at the cardiology ward. In 2012, I travelled to South-India with my family where I was confronted with poverty and inequality for the first time as a young girl. Since then, I’m very driven to help others who don’t get good healthcare and the same chances as we do. When I came in contact with MUSTANGH 2 year ago, the project truly appealed to me. This year, I’ll be reinforcing the acquisition committee once again to keep improving healthcare in WGH. I’m excited to get started again!
Hi, I’m Chris, a 24-year-old Master student at Maastricht University (UM). I’m pursuing a Master in Health Policy, Innovation, and Management, as a continuation after finishing my Bachelor’s in European Public Health. The coming year will be my fourth at the acquisition committee of MUSTANGH, during which I will try to collect the means – and form the connections – that are needed for Mustangh to do it’s good work. Aside from my study and Mustangh I’m also a leader/volunteer at a Scouts group, I work at UM Sports and as an emergency response officer at UM, and I’m in a committee at the Maastricht climbing association MaasSAC. I also regularly participate in some other smaller volunteer work. I really enjoy helping others, regardless of whether that’s in a direct way, or indirectly as with MUSTANGH. This, combined with the fact that MUSTANGH is made up of a group of super fun and enthusiastic people, made my choice to stay on for a fourth year an easy one. I’m really looking forward to working together with the acquisition committee to achieve a great result this year!
Hey everybody! My name is Lotte Vondenhoff and I am 22 years old. I was born in Voerendaal but am now living in Maastricht, I’ve always been a ‘village-kid’ so I can still be found in Voerendaal on a regular basis. I’m currently a third-year medical student. I have been playing volleyball for the same club (VCV) since I was 8 and still do so 3 times a week. In addition to that, I think it’s very important to spend as much time with friends and family as possible. The interests of the MUSTANGH Foundation really appeal to me, so I’m looking forward to being a member of the Acquisition Committee for the second year now!
Hello! My name is Emma Koning, 21 years old and currently I’m in my 3rd year of Medicine. This is my 4th year living in Maastricht. Originally, I’m from Hilversum, and occasionally you can find me all the way in Friesland with my parents. In my free time I work with elderly, I’m an active member of a sorority, I follow dance classes and I try to make time for my family and friends. This year I thought it would be fun and educational to join the acquisition committee of Mustangh. I’m looking forward to meeting new people and to jointly help the West Gonja Hospital .
Hi everybody! My name is Maud Bekker and I am 19 years old. My home town is Ulft, but because I study in Maastricht I now live there. Currently, I am in my 2nd year of medical studies in Maastricht. In my spare time, I like to meet up with friends, go out for sports or be outside. As of this year, I can be part of the MUSTANGH acquisition committee, something I am looking forward to! MUSTANGH appealed to me because I started a project two years ago to do voluntary work in The Gambia. The people there have made such a great impression on me that I would like to continue with this. I am looking forward to next year and hope we can achieve a lot!
