Africa Week 2019

In the week of the 18th until the 21st of February it was time for the annual Africa Week. This week was all about MUSTANGH foundation and Ghana. We had a stand at the university every day. Here, students could buy a lottery ticket, get a lolly for a like and buy Tony’s Chocolonely chocolate bars. The lottery and the Tony’s sale was a big success! We raised a lot of money, which will all go to the MUSTANGH foundation. On Friday we announced the winners of the lottery on our Facebook page. Besides, we organised a different activity on each day of the week:
Monday: Walk-in drinks
The first activity this week was walk-in drinks at the MUSTANGH room at the university. Everyone was welcome to join us for some drinks and a bite, while accompanied by African music. This way, people could get to know MUSTANGH and ask any questions they might have had. It was a very fun and cozy afternoon. A good way to start the week!

Tuesday: Pubquiz
On the second day of the Africa Week, we had a Pubquiz at restaurant La Familia. There was great attendance, which made it fun and a big success! We sold a lot of lottery tickets, and in addition, all of the money from the fees to participate went to MUSTANGH, which made it a very profitable evening! Furthermore, the entire evening was presented by members of MUSTANGH. Moreover, there were a lot of nice prices awarded to the winners, for example a beer board from La Familia for the winners, and some ‘bitterballen’ (a dutch deep-fried snack) for the second place, all sponsored by La Familia. Overall, a very successful evening!

Wednesday: Zumba
Day 3 of the Africa Week was again a success! Many people attended the super fun, swinging and active Zumba class at UM Sports for free. And it turns out that the MUSTANGH members themselves can still work on their African dance moves. After the Zumba class, the burnt calories could be gained again with the delicious Tony’s Chocolonely bars that we sold. Hopefully, more people have become acquainted with MUSTANGH through this activity. We would like to thank UM Sports for taking care of the lesson and thanks to everyone who participated!

Thursday: Cantus
On the last day, we organised a cantus (a Dutch beer drinking and singing activity) together with MSV Pulse en SV Koko. This evening, the members of MUSTANGH dined together, before singing their hearts out at the cantus. In short, the week ended with a really fun group in a very festive manner!
